Huscarán National Park covers one of the highest mountain ranges in the world - the Cordillera Blanca, part of the Andes. There are over 50 glacier-covered peaks here. Nevado Huascaran (6768 m) is not only the highest peak in Peru, but also in the entire area of the Tropics. The scenery here is stunning with glistening bluish glacial lakes, awe-inspiring chasms, raging waterfalls and lots of snow.

There are numerous routes, some of which lead to Andean settlements with remains from before the Inca era. At the foot of Nevado Huascaran are two beautiful twin lakes – Chinancocha (the female lake), surrounded by kenua forest, and Orkoncocha (the male lake), which is smaller in size.

The walking tour to the "most beautiful peak in the world" - Alpamayo - is interesting. The best time to visit is from May to September and the nearest town is Yungay, 21 km from Nevado Huascaran.
