Curonian Spit (Curonian Spit National Park), Lithuania
Curonian Spit (Curonian Spit National Park), Lithuania is one of the most interesting and fascinating places in Europe. It is a strip of sand enclosing the quiet waters of the Curonian Lagoon. The Kruska Spit was formed more than 5,000 years ago and here are the largest shifting sand dunes in Europe, reaching 60 m in height. One part of the Spit is on Russian territory, the other in the Lithuanian Neringa region. Both parts of the Curonian Spit are national parks, and this natural wonder has been declared a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO.
