The Vatican Gardens are another work of art. The picturesque ornamental gardens, historical monuments, fountains, the wonderful 16th century house of Pope Pius IV (1499-1565) designed by Pirro Ligorio (1500-1583), and the Vatican school of decorative mosaics are a must-see.
