Marrakech is located in the south of Morocco and is a famous tourist city. It has about 700 thousand inhabitants. In the past, only representatives of southern Moroccan tribes and Berbers came here to sell their goods, have fun and load the caravans with everything they needed. Today Marrakech is visited by tourists from all over the world.

A visit to the main square of Jemaa el Fna in the old city is an exceptional experience. The incredible mix of market stalls, storytellers, acrobats and snake charmers is worth seeing. Starting from the square are what are called the Macaerek souks - numerous winding covered streets where there are shops selling metalwork, worked wood, leather goods and all sorts of other goods. A remarkable feature is the 10-kilometre-long defensive wall surrounding the old town, built of unbaked bricks and along which towers and bastions have been erected.

The emblem of the city is the minaret of the mosque "Kutubia", which is 70 m high. This mosque is perhaps the finest Islamic monument in all of North Africa. The tombs of the Saadi dynasty are remarkable, being beautiful buildings in the bo-ar style which are set in a wonderful garden. The Ben Yusuf Medersa religious school is the largest building on the medina.

It was rebuilt in the 16th century by the Saadi dynasty. Its facades are covered with architectural decoration in which the style of Andalusian art is noticeable.
