Cotopaxi Volcano, Ecuador
Cotopaxi Volcano is the world's highest active volcano, once worshipped as a god by the local Andean Indians. It is located in Ecuador. Over the past 300 years, the volcano has awoken 300 times, with its most famous eruption in 1887. Cotopaxi rises on a plateau 3,800m high, its summit reaching almost 5,900m.

Gukiragua flowers attract with their brilliant yellow inflorescences, and red and yellow buttercups grow around them.
