Halong Bay, Vietnam

Halong Bay or Ha Long Bay is located within the boundaries of the large Bac Bo Bay, near the border between China and Vietnam. It is a beautiful bay, with 2000 small islets, rock arches and floating fishing villages. The islets are covered by impenetrable jungle, and the elements continue to erode them and give them even more bizarre shapes. The largest of the caves is the so-called Cave of the Wooden Stakes, which is reached by steps cut into the rocks. One of its halls can hold 3,000 people.
Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The best time to visit is in spring and early summer, and the nearest towns are Halong, Hong Gai and Kamp Pha, located along the bay's shores.
