Pillory Beach today remains a place of totally unspoilt nature. According to historians, Christopher Columbus docked here during his first voyage in 1492. It is located on the west coast of Grand Turk Island, which is the administrative capital of Turks and Caicos - Caribbean. Some of the Caribbean's most impressive coral walls can be seen here. The Turks and Caicos is renowned as one of the most wonderful places for ice diving on the planet. There is an underwater passage that separates the islands of the Turks and Caicos. It is full of incredibly beautifully coloured coral. There is also a unique garden of black coral. The coast is part of the Columbus Landfall National Marine Park.
