Montserrat
Montserrat Island is an overseas territory of Great Britain and enters the archipelago of the Little Antilles. The island was discovered by Columbus in 1493, but was settled by English Catholics in 1632, which founded the capital Plymouth. Since 1960, Montserrat has been ruled by a governor appointed by the Queen of the United Kingdom.
Montserrat is a mountain island, with its highest point being the Chicken Peak (914 m). The island has developed agriculture, industry and craftsmanship. In 1997, the Soufrière volcano erupted, destroying the city of Plymouth.
