The palace owes its name Madama (mistress, madam) to Maria-Cristina of France, mother of Carlo Emmanuel of Savoy. Today the palace houses the Turin City Museum of Ancient Art. His collection includes paintings and works of art from three millennia. The current appearance of the Palazzo Madama is the work of the Baroque architect Filippo Juvara.
