Pelion (Πήλιο, Pilio) is a mountain in the southeastern part of Thessaly, Greece. Olympus is relatively close. The name Pelion comes from ancient Greek mythology, in particular from the mythical king and father of Achilles - Peleus. Pelion is the home of the centaur Chiron, who was a famous teacher of many ancient Greek heroes such as Jason, Achilles, Theseus and Hercules. Today's Pelion is part of Magnesia.
