
New Castle (Castel Nuovo), Naples

The New Castle (Castel Nuovo) of Naples was built in 1282 for King Charles I of Anjou, later enlarged by Alfonso I of Aragon. The entrance of the New Castle (Castel Nuovo) is a Triumphal Arch in Early Renaissance style with many sculptures. The arch was built between 1453 and 1467. The New Castle (Castel Nuovo) of Naples has five towers, and in the courtyard there is a Gothic church named after St. Barbara.
