Nantes, France
Nantes is a city in western France, center of the Pays-de-la-Loire region, in the Loire-Atlantique department. The city is situated on the right bank of the Loire River.
Nantes is the most important city in old Brittany and carries a reputation as one of the most pleasant cities to live in France. Nantes is a clean, well-kept city whose landscape is dotted with beautiful cobbled streets, many fine buildings, interesting monuments, great museums, cool parks and lively cultural centers.
Not just a city, but a paradise. The dynamism and young spirit of the atmosphere in Nantes is due to the many students in the city. One of the gems of Nantes is the magnificent Château de Duc de Bretagne, a typical French feudal castle. It is followed in beauty and magnetism by the very well restored Gothic cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, located near the castle.
What has been preserved of Nantes from an earlier time can be explored in Bouffe, an old medieval quarter. One can understand what French architecture was like in the 19th century if one visits the area around the Place du Commerce, while the Place Graslin is the narrator of the history of architecture during the neoclassical period, a typical representative there being the Opera House.
In addition, the Jules Verne Museum, the Le Liève Unique Centre for Contemporary Arts, the Jardin de Plante Park, and the Museum of Fine Arts with paintings by Courbet, Engr, Georges de la Tour and many other remarkable places and monuments of architecture and history are of great interest in Nantes.
