Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran, Rome

The Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran in Rome was built around 314 by Emperor Constantine the Great. In 774, Charlemagne was baptized in this temple. Until the 19th century, many popes were ordained here, and here again in 1929 the relations between the church and the state were settled with the signing of the Lateran Treaty. It is said that the skulls of St. Peter and St. Paul are kept in the gift box.
